Specifically the Chicago Loop is the area bounded by the L tracks, but many refer to the whole downtown area as "the Loop." The central business district is located here along with a concentration of high rises and bustling streets. Chicago's Central Business District is the second largest in the country and is a major financial center. Also in the Loop, you'll find several of the city's historic buildings and landmarks including Printing House Row, the Palmer House and the Sears Tower, the tallest building in the US. Residential spaces exist in the form of highrises, apartments, and converted lofts.

But, enough about buildings and work. There's greenspace to enjoy within the loop as well including beautiful Grant Park. And, while you're at the park, check out a few of the museums that border it as well as the Shedd Aquarium. Higher education opportunities also exist at the Art Institute of Chicago and Roosevelt University.
